5 Strategies to Maintain Balance During the Holidays.

Normally when we have vacation time or festivities we tend to forget about the healthy goals that have accompanied us during the year: Lose weight, eat healthy, exercise, meditate, breathe, among many others that you already know.

Days, even weeks go by when it seems like all that effort you made for 9 – 11 months has been wasted and the only priority is to have a good time. Of course, when the holidays are over and you want to get back to your routine, it becomes quite an odyssey. Do you remember the "in January I start, on Monday I start, tomorrow I sign up for the gym" that in reality instead of 1 day they have a margin of 60 business days and even more... Well, if you don't remember, I'll remind you and let me tell you which is one of those sensations that I wouldn't wish on even my worst enemy. Being stuck in procrastination becomes frustrating and delays not only our healthy version, but also the efficiency with which we act in all other areas of life: Work, relationships, study, family, etc.

Eye! This is not to scare you, on the contrary. To prevent you from returning to that vicious circle this year, I present below 5 strategies that you can use during your PARTY ON periods so that you can enjoy as you like without losing sight of the balance and achievements you have achieved.

1.During the party, do not forget to drink water constantly to avoid becoming dehydrated with alcoholic beverages that affect kidney function, causing fluid loss and greater work for the liver. This is what makes you feel so bad the next day, hungover or "guayabo" as we say in Colombia. Even excessive sugar consumption added to high temperatures are also factors that have an impact.

2. The next day after the party HYDRATE EVEN MORE. Start with hot water with lemon first thing in the day. This will help your liver cleanse toxins and prepare for the day's functions. Remember that the night before this organ worked too hard and it is time to give it a brake. It is super important that the rest of the day you eat a good amount of water as well as natural and nutritious foods that restore balance to the body (salts, energy, boost of defenses).

3. PRIORITIZE QUALITY SLEEP. To recover and/or stay at 100, both body and mind need a rest of between 6 to 8 hours. Try to dedicate this time to relaxing and sleeping during the celebration season. This will prevent exhaustion from occurring and believe me, it will protect you from diseases by keeping your immune system strong.

4. KEEP MOVING. It doesn't matter if it's less than what you used to do. Stay consistent with your physical activity. If you are definitely bored with the gym around this time, look for alternative activities such as hiking, biking, walking, dancing or even running outdoors.

5. Don't lose sight of your daily consumption of protein, vegetables and healthy fat, which are the macronutrients your body needs to be healthy and function optimally.

6. LA ÑAPA: Continue enjoying. You know, the important thing is to maintain balance by applying these strategies and enjoy every moment.
